After the intensity of the conference last week, I’ve been glad of the time the last few days, to get back into focusing on the Program Review website, all the while ideas and new learning from LILLY percolating in my subconscious.
The website as it stands now is different to how I first started out and I’ve enjoyed working with the changes. I’ve amended some of the drop-down categories and the ‘fly-outs’ to make them easier to navigate if accessing the site from a smaller screen / laptop. I’m continually reflecting on: is this useful information and is it in a logical place? And,Β ‘what’s the value added’? as I go through each section, which is leading me down some interesting rabbit holes. I think about what I would want if I were a member of a program review team and am starting out, for example, contributing to writing the Self-Study. Rather than having to trawl through long quality assurance and program review documents from other institutions by way of example, I’d want to know which section to focus on. So, I’ve been doing the ‘trawling’ and although this is taking me much longer than I’d envisaged, I believe it’ll make the website richer and more user-friendly. Some of the resources I’m finding will also be very useful for the supports we need to put together for Curriculum Committee.
In other news, I’m looking forward to doing some workshops in January – it’s been a while and I’m eager to share some of the new learning from POD and LILLY; paying it forward. I had an interesting conversation with an instructor who contacted me on Monday regarding the next cohort of international students on the ECCE program. It’s a useful reminder of the kinds of help some faculty may need in terms of supporting international students, and something to consider as I begin with the CiCan project in January.
I’m excited about the new plans for CTLI in the coming year. We have a clear direction (which I value), concrete endeavors to focus on and interesting new challenges. And next week we get to meet a potential new colleague. It’s lovely to have so much to look forward to.
