This week in the Craft Services module we were working with content on food.
I could relate to some of the information around food intolerances and allergies, but it was an eye-opener thinking of this from the perspective of someone having to do large-scale catering to accommodate all the different possibilities that could come up for someone in the Craft Services profession.
There were some good recipes and I could be tempted to try making these bagel chips.
I’ve realized how tricky it is adjusting photos and images within a document. It’s time consuming and if it’s not something you’re used to doing, it’s not intuitive. At the same time, it’s so important to have the visuals within teaching materials, not only because it takes the overwhelm out of seeing lots of text, but because visuals and images support understanding and ‘absorption’ of information.
Terri showed me how to do an ‘accessibility check’ on a Word document. This stuff should be something all faculty know when creating documents in the online environment (and ‘live’ of course). This could be a useful 2-minute video to create, to add to the Teach Anywhere site.
I found an interesting video on understanding the difference between food intolerance versus food allergies, which supports the written content included in the module. There’s a lot of content for this module and I’m sure some students will welcome a different modality to receive some of the information.
